Exercise normal precaution in Vietnam . Vietnam is generally a safe destination for travelers. Petty crime is common, especially in popular tourist locations. Stay aware of your surroundings. Landmines and unexploded ordnance exist in Vietnam. Areas of greatest risk are construction sites. Landmine risk is low in urban and populated areas, including tourist destinations.
