Our verdict
ETS makes the GRE, so its practice is the benchmark for realism. Two POWERPREP Online tests are free (one timed, one untimed), and POWERPREP PLUS Online tests cost $44.95 each and add instant scoring, explanations, difficulty levels and scored sample essays (as of 2026-10-02). The Official Guide to the GRE General Test costs $45 plus shipping and includes two more POWERPREP Online tests. It ranks behind Magoosh here because there is no instruction or study plan and paid tests are priced one at a time.
